Dear Friends and Colleagues of Gwen Osgood –
We’re on a mission to help Gwen with financial support to help care for her beloved 92-year old mother, Mary Gonia, who is frail and bedridden and requires care 7 days/week for 8-12 hours/day.
The Situation
While Gwen and her mother are still grieving the recent loss of Gwen’s father on September 6, Gwen is under significant strain trying to make ends meet now that her father’s monthly Social Security and VA benefits have been canceled. With her mother’s income just barely covering daily living expenses and utility bills, we’re trying to help Gwen with the cost of caregiver services until she can sell her mother’s house. Without her father’s benefits, Gwen now has the responsibility of paying for all her mother’s caregiver expenses in addition to all legal fees, household expenses, property taxes, and groceries. She is in a very stressful situation and we want to see that she gets help.
How the Funds Will Be Used
All collected funds will be used to support Mary Gonia’s daytime caregiver costs. Your contributions will make it possible to pay for these important necessities and help alleviate the huge financial burden that Gwen is now struggling with.
Caregivers
Since Gwen’s mother is fully bedridden, she requires care 8-12 hours/day. Her caregivers come to the house to bathe her, change her, give her medicines and watch her on the days when Gwen’s brother can work. Their hourly rates are $13 and $15/hr – averaging $4,018/month. A homecare agency would charge $22/hour, so Gwen has independent caregivers to keep the costs as low as possible.

As most of you can attest, Gwen has a big heart and truly cares about people. She is always the first to offer help to those in need and has probably helped each and every one of us on this list at one time or another. Now SHE needs OUR help. Who We Are
We are Pamela Carrasco, Kate Johnson and Kathy Mitome - and along with Gwen, we form the Marketing Team at Carrier Johnson + CULTURE. Gwen heads up our department and leads and inspires by example. Our role model, she works tirelessly and creates a familial atmosphere that enables us to be the best we can be. We think of her as “Mama Gwen”.
Although she puts up a brave front, seeing the strain and pressure that such a huge financial burden has placed on her has been heartbreaking. Gwen is incredibly self-reliant and would be “mortified” (as she would say) to ask for monetary help herself, so that’s why we decided to create this site on her behalf to share her situation with her close friends and colleagues. She has no idea what we’re up to. We even copied her personal Contacts list to reach out to all of you.
Access to Funds
Gwen will be given direct access to all funds raised on behalf of her mother. We won’t manage or have any access to the financial side of the account – that’s the way the GoFundMe site works. We prefer this setup as it provides contributors confidence that all funds will go directly to the cause.
