Hi, my name is Gwen, and I am 12 years old. Ever since I was two, I felt a deep connection to horses. Even before I could put it into words, I knew I was meant to ride. But due to difficult family circumstances, I was unable to pursue horseback riding for many years. Watching other kids ride while knowing I couldn’t was heartbreaking, and it became one of the hardest obstacles I have faced growing up.
These early challenges took a toll on my mental health, and I began struggling with moderate anxiety and ADHD. It often felt like my mind was working against me—racing thoughts, constant worry, and difficulty focusing made everyday life a battle. Thankfully, with the help of therapy and the support of the people around me, I have slowly built confidence and learned how to manage my ADHD. But the biggest breakthrough—the thing that truly changed my life—came in 2023, when everything finally shifted, and I was allowed to chase my dream of riding a horse.
From the moment I sat in the saddle for the first time, it was like my brain and body finally found peace. Horseback riding frees my mind from worry and gives me focus unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. When I ride, the world becomes quiet. My anxiety calms, my ADHD doesn’t feel like a challenge, and I feel completely connected—to the horse, to the moment, and to myself.
Because I was held back from this dream at an early age, I’ve had to work incredibly hard to catch up. The equestrian world can be competitive and intimidating, especially when you come into it later than most kids. But I have fought my way in with everything I have. I train with determination, passion, and gratitude every time I enter the arena. And because riding is so therapeutic for my brain, I have advanced faster than anyone expected.
I have been homeschooled for six years, and during that time I discovered that horses weren’t just a hobby—they were my purpose. With dedication and hours of hard work, I recently achieved something I never imagined possible: I placed Grand Champion **twice** in a local show. Those wins helped me believe in myself in a way I never had before.
Now I am standing at the edge of a dream I once thought was impossible: competing at the world-renowned **World Equestrian Center in Ocala**, one of the most respected shows in Florida. I still can’t believe I am this close. But getting there requires months of training, dedication, and financial support—things my family cannot provide on our own.
That is why I am humbly asking for your help. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank anyone who chooses to support my journey. Your donation will help cover training, show fees, travel, and all the essentials needed to compete at this level.
I promise to work harder than ever and to make everyone who believes in me proud. With your support, I will show the horse community—and myself—that I truly belong at the World Equestrian Center.
Thank you so much for being part of my dream.
