Hello! My name is Antonella, and I’m reaching out for help for my beloved dog, Gwapa, a 10-year-old cocker spaniel who is truly the heart of our family.

In December 2025, Gwapa suddenly became very unwell. After a veterinary exam and bloodwork, she was diagnosed with IMTP — a serious autoimmune disorder where the body attacks its own platelets. She was immediately started on high-dose steroids along with other medications to manage the side effects and help her platelet count recover. Thankfully, she responded at first and showed improvement.

However, when we began tapering down her prednisone in late January 2026, her symptoms returned. She developed nosebleeds and an eye infection, and follow-up testing showed that her platelet levels have dropped dangerously low again. Gwapa now needs to go back on high-dose steroids and will require lifelong immunosuppressant medication to keep the disease under control. These medications alone are estimated to cost about $400 per month.

Right now, Gwapa urgently needs an ultrasound and chest X-rays to rule out underlying cancer or other serious causes. The estimated cost for this diagnostic testing is $1,500.

My hardworking family is struggling to make ends meet with the fast accumulating vet bills, and the costs are becoming overwhelming. We are committed to giving Gwapa every chance to fight and continue enjoying her life. Despite everything she’s going through, she is still wagging her tail and trying her best to stay playful and loving.
