Help GVSU film students produce "The Roach"

Hi! My name is Sam Altherr and I am a film and video production student at Grand Valley State University. This semester, I am producing a film for my Fiction Filmmaking class that is written and will be directed by Niklas Hegg, shot by Malcolm Kramp who is Director of Photography, feature Collin VanLoo as Production Designer, Luke Hanson as Camera Assistant, and Mark Cobane as Art Assistant.

 

The film will be titled "The Roach", and will follow a husband and wife's experience as they move into their new house together where they quickly discover a cockroach that is almost impossible to track down and kill. The husband grows an obsession with the roach, throughout the day and into the night, as his sanity unravels. This film is a dark comedy but it will also implement themes dealing with stress, anxiety, and OCD. As college students ourselves, we believe this film can be a good way to showcase these behaviors because so many people struggle with mental health. We decided to approach these topics in a more funny and ironic way since they normally aren't expressed that way.

 

We will be using the $800 for funds such as wardrobe, equipment, actors, props, food, and travel expenses. With this money, we are confident that we will be able to create a funny, shocking, engaging, and rewatchable short film! Our talented crew has been working on films consistently for the past 3-4 years at GVSU. This money will elevate our production and help us to garner more experience in the world of filmmaking and any extra funds will be used to enter "The Roach" in film festivals!
