Help GVSU Film Students Bring Short Film "Parallel" to Life

Hello! My name is Kailey Barker and I am a student Filmmaker at Grand Valley State University. I am the Writer and Director of the upcoming short film, “Parallel” The film follows two artists, set in the 70’s and the current day as they struggle to create work they are proud of. It digs into the feelings of imposter syndrome, and insecurities that come with being creative. I wrote this script as a way to work through my own struggles of feeling like I was unable to create something I am proud of. I believe it is important to tell this story so others know they are not alone in this feeling, and it is possible to overcome this.

We aim to create a realistic version of the 70s, including shooting on 16mm film and using antique props and decorations. Along with creating this atmosphere, money donated would go towards paying our actors, as well as feeding the cast and crew.

Logline:

Two artists live in the same apartment and struggle with their creativity, but live in different decades.
