Hi there, my name is Jacqui Cooper, and I’m fundraising to purchase a Handcycle (an Adaptive Bicycle) for Guy Ireland on Flinders Island.

After a devastating accident on the 15th of May 2021, Guy’s life has changed forever. Guy had a nasty fall that damaged his spine, broke ribs and gashed his forehead. Guy has lost the use of his lower body.

Guy is now in the Spinal Rehab ward at The Austin Hospital in Melbourne making steady progress and learning new life skills with the support of his amazing wife, Lois.

As local Flinders Islanders would know, Guy was passionate about riding his bicycle everyday weather would permit. Even after a big day building we would see Guy zooming up the road at a rate of knots on his beloved bike.

Guy has been a generous contributor to the Island community (and vibrant, legendary character to boot). It would be fabulous for our Island community, Guy’s mates and peers to get behind him as he orients his way through this life changing time, by providing a donation to purchase a new Handcycle to get Guy out on the road again!
