Help Guy Get Back Home

Donation protected
My name Is Guy Grison. In August 2012, my wife discovered a small bump on my head. Within days it had changed, and within two weeks, I had surgery to remove it. It was diagnosed as Melanoma.
In June 2017, life was good until another bump appeared on my head next to my melanoma scar. I went to a dermatologist. I told him that the scar on my head resulted from melanoma surgery. I also told him that cancer had run in my family, and both my parents had died of cancer. He never ordered any test on the bump but said it was nothing for me to worry about and that he could remove it for $300.00. I returned home but scheduled a follow-up with my family physician, who immediately sent me for a CT scan which came back as melanoma.

In 2019 the melanoma metastasized to my right knee. Surgery was performed to remove the cancer, but in 2020, my right leg had to be amputated. With the help of a prosthetic and therapy, I eventually returned to work and resumed my everyday life.

In 2021 my oncologist discovered cancer in my lymph node located in the groin area. I received treatment for this latest cancer and responded to it very well. The cancer was shrinking, but then,

In June 2022, I fell and broke the femur on my cancerous leg, my stump. I developed a condition called DIC- Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, a rare and serious condition that causes blood clots to form throughout the bloodstream. My body was bruised and swollen. I received more than 200 blood transfusions and blood products to keep me alive.

In October, I celebrated my 56th birthday here in the hospital. It was also confirmed that the melanoma had now metastasized to my brain. I am paralyzed on the left side of my body. But thanks to my Oncologist and science, they put together a treatment plan that works for me. I'm no longer receiving blood, the swelling has gone down, and my bruises have nearly all disappeared. According to the doctors, my condition is stable. Plans are to release me soon to a care facility in my hometown Chatham.

My life has completely changed in the past three months.

I started this fundraiser because I need your help to get me back home. I need an electric wheelchair, a wheelchair ramp, a hospital bed, a lift and a shower commode.

Cancer has taken a lot from me, but I've never given up hope. Your contributions will help me be independent outside of a hospital while continuing my treatments and allow me to be just a little normal again.

Thank you for whatever you can contribute. It is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely
Guy Grison
