Help Gus Recover After House Fire
Gus is a disabled veteran and Portales native whose house just burned down. He lived there for 50 years and lost everything. He helps local people get back on their feet by letting them stay on his property, so there are about 6-8 people living there. Most of them lost everything in the fire as well. 4 puppies died, but there are still multiple dogs, cats, and newborn kittens there. He has received tons of wonderful donations, but now we need to get him back on his feet. The money you donate will help Gus:
Stay in a motel. The Ministry Alliance of Roosevelt County has been generous enough to pay for Gus to stay in a motel for a week, but it will take longer than that to get him into somewhere permanent.
Buy a pre-paid phone. Although many people, business, and organizations want to help Gus, they don't have an affective way to get a hold of him. Buying Gus a pre-paid phone will allow him to contact people and coordinate the help he needs.
Eat. While he has received many generous donations of dry goods, those can only last for so long.
Get a new camper/apartment/house. Helping him buy/rent a camper or mobile home would be a huge deal! He and his friends have been staying in tents that were donated by the community. The sooner we can get him out of that situation, the better.
Pay for other stuff. We don't know what all this endeavor will entail, so having money for unforseen expenses is crucial.
I know our little community is able to step up and pull our resources together to help Gus. He has such a big heart and helps people in need every day. Now he needs our help.
