Our sweet Boston Terrier, Gus, is only 10 months old — still just a baby — and he’s already been through something no puppy should have to endure. Gus is our little hyper ball of energy, a loving companion who fills our days with laughter, cuddles, and joy.

On Tuesday, August 5th, around 10 pm, Gus had his first seizure. I caught the end of it — he was dazed, disoriented, and foaming at the mouth. Just 40 minutes later, it happened again… this time much worse. Gus began convulsing, foaming, vomiting, and struggling to breathe. My heart dropped. I rushed him to the emergency vet, terrified we might lose him.

The vet immediately started him on seizure medication, but they need to find out why this is happening. Because he’s so young, they say epilepsy is unlikely. They’re recommending urgent diagnostic testing, including an MRI, a spinal tap, and x-rays — tests that require sedation. These will help determine if Gus has fluid in the brain, a disease, or even a mass causing the seizures.

The costs for these diagnostics, treatment, and ongoing care could reach up to $10,000. On top of that, Gus may need lifelong medication, which could cause liver issues that will require ongoing monitoring.

We love Gus more than words can express, and we’re willing to do whatever it takes to give him the best chance at a long, happy life. But the truth is, we can’t do this alone.
