Gus is my 7-year-old dog and a beloved member of our family. For months now, he has been struggling with persistent gagging, nausea, vomiting, hyper-salivation, and frequent coughing. These symptoms have been distressing for both Gus and for my husband Seth and me, and after several visits to the vet, it became clear that Gus needed biopsies done via an endoscopy. However, we kept hitting set backs that delayed this procedure. We had to try 4 different foods during this time and steroid treatments that prevented us from getting it done. During this process, Gus received an annual X-ray in which they identified a mass on his spleen. In the course of a day, our entire world was turned upside down. There is a 50% chance the mass could be malignant and he’ll need further treatment. Due to the high risk splenic masses have of rupturing and causing catastrophic damage, it must be removed regardless. He was diagnosed with this 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and will be having his spleen removed and biopsies of the mass/his intestines on July 30th.

We have already spent a significant amount on Gus’s medical care, and a recent emergency room visit for myself has made it even harder to keep up with the mounting expenses. Despite these challenges, I am determined to do everything I can to help Gus get better. The funds raised will go directly toward the cost of his splenectomy, biopsies, follow-up care, and any treatments he may need based on the results. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in helping Gus get the care he deserves and bring some peace of mind to Seth and me during this difficult time.
