Help Gus Get Home

On Friday, July 17, 2020 my good friend, Slade Gormus lost her dog, Gus. Gus escaped from a friend’s house in Moyock, NC. He was spooked and he busted through the front door and made a bee line for the corn fields. The community of Moyock came together to help look for Gus. After days and days of searching in 100 degree heat, the family could not find Gus and things looked grim. On Friday, July 24th at 5am, after being missing for 7 days, Gus was spotted. He was seen on the side of the road looking muddy, wet, and a little confused. But still in good shape! There was hope again! Gus's family hired a dog tracker and on Sunday, July 26th , his mom, Slade and sister, Dalton Gormus met the dog trackers early in the morning and followed his scent trail. There were heavy scents noted so they knew he had to be close. However, after searching all day and getting 10K steps in before 10 am they were unable to find him. All they could do was put up posters in the tracking area and beyond. The next steps were uncertain, and they got on the road back to Richmond, VA. Good news came at 11am on Monday July 27th, another sighting. Gus was spotted moving north to the NC/VA border crossing a horse farm. The woman that called said she saw him “bouncing” through her field so he still has energy. Since then a trap has been set and they are all waiting for another sighting, but the Gormus family needs help. Unfortunately, feet on the ground is not the help they need, Gus is too skiddish and that may run him further away or off of his water source . What they need are trackers and trappers to help bring Gus home. It is an expensive proposition. Any amount would help the family get Gus home. Any funds not used in the search for Gus will go to help another family in search of their fur baby. Gus like all pets, means a lot to the Gormus family and we know Gus is trying to find his way home. He needs our help to do that. If you are in Moyock, NC or on the NC/VA border and you spot Gus please call Slade Gormus at [phone redacted],
