My name is Gurmukh Singh, and I am an international student from India currently studying MSc Cyber Security Management at Aston University in Birmingham, United Kingdom. I arrived in the UK on 3 January with the dream of completing my master’s degree and building a better future.

In 2019, my life changed completely when I suffered a severe electric shock to my head. The accident caused a spinal cord injury, which left my lower body paralyzed below the lungs. Since then, I have depended on a wheelchair for all my daily activities and mobility.

Despite this challenge, I never gave up on my education. With the help of a government scholarship, I came to the UK to continue my studies and pursue my goals in cybersecurity.

The wheelchair I used before was an active wheelchair from SAGE, which unfortunately broke from the center last week and can no longer be used. At the moment, I am using a temporary wheelchair, which is not comfortable or suitable for my daily mobility.

To regain my independence, I now need to purchase a NeoMotion wheelchair with a NeoBolt Wheelchair Attachment. This wheelchair and attachment will help me move independently and travel more easily for my daily activities and university commute. The total cost, including shipping from India, is approximately  £2,850.

My father works as a labourer, and my family does not have the financial ability to pay such a large amount for a new wheelchair. Because of this situation, I am humbly asking for your support and kindness to help me raise the funds needed.

I am raising funds to purchase a new wheelchair and attachment so I can continue my studies, move independently, and live with dignity.
