Help Gunner walk

Hi friends,

As most of you know on May 30th Gunner lost use of his back legs. We rushed to the University of North Carolina to see a neurologist. There Gunner was confirmed paralyzed due to a slipped disc that was compressing the spinal cord. The neurologist gave Gunner a 50% chance to regain mobility with surgery and a 5-10% chance without it. We know Gunner is meant to walk and his fiery spirit cannot be limited. So, we went forward with surgery to give him the best possible chance.

The past few weeks have been very emotionally and financially taxing on our family. We paid 5k for his surgery and $500 for the starting sessions of laser therapy and acupuncture.

Gunner is only 16 days post-surgery and has already shown progression. His deep pain sensation has returned in his toes. This means he can feel! We are currently doing laser & acupuncture 3x a week and he will start hydrotherapy soon. We are expecting his rehab services to cost about $1K per month.

The hardest part of this is we don’t know when Gunner will walk again. Some dogs take weeks, and some take months to regain mobility after an injury like this. I am making this goal of 5K that will cover Gunners therapies for at least 5-6 months. If Gunner significantly improves any left over funds will be donated to a Dachshund rescue. Prayers and any donations are appreciated!
