Gunner is my 9-year-old puppy, and I’ve had him since he was just a baby. He’s been by my side through everything, offering comfort and companionship. Recently, I went through a difficult breakup, and the court ordered my ex to care for Gunner while I found a new place to live. Unfortunately, instead of caring for him, my ex neglected Gunner, and within a month and a half, he lost a significant amount of weight—you could see his ribs and spine. Before the next court hearing, my ex evicted Gunner from the house, leaving him without a safe place to stay.

Right now, I am unable to take care of Gunner properly. I’ve reached out to everyone I know, called shelters, and even contacted police stations to find a placement or foster for him, but I haven’t had any luck. The only option left was to surrender him, which I absolutely do not want to do. Thankfully, with the help of my family, Gunner is staying at a doggy hotel for now, but it’s a temporary solution and the costs are adding up quickly.
