Gunnar is only 10 months old, but he has already become an irreplaceable part of Kevin’s family. Since joining the family in June 2025, Gunnar immediately adjusted to the household, forming a special bond with the two youngest boys and the high-energy springer spaniel. He has brought so much joy and comfort, especially as the family continues to heal from the loss of their oldest son three years ago. Gunnar’s playful spirit and loving nature have helped fill their home with hope and laughter again.

On Thursday, 3/26/26, everything changed when Gunnar suddenly began bleeding from his urinary tract. The family rushed him to their vet, where he was diagnosed with a prolapsed urethra—a rare and serious injury. With few local vets experienced in treating this condition, Kevin and his family had to drive nearly two hours to an emergency clinic. The severity and uniqueness of Gunnar’s injury, along with his young age and size, have made the surgery and care much more expensive than anyone could have prepared for. Despite the challenges, the family is determined to give Gunnar a fighting chance and keep him as part of their lives.
