Gumbo Social is a beloved Bayview restaurant, and we're building toward something our community has been asking for: later hours. Right now, we close at 6 p.m., which means many people don't make it in after work. Our goal is to pilot a new walk-up takeout window from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., giving Bayview a much-needed evening dining option while keeping our staff safe and respecting our residential neighbors.
Many restaurants in Bayview have limited hours, and we'd like to start a trend to change that—especially as the neighborhood is experiencing a bit of a renaissance this year, with several new businesses opening. By extending our hours, we hope to inspire others to do the same and help create a more vibrant evening scene for everyone.
The new takeout window will also allow for delivery, supporting online orders through Toast and other third-party partners. This means more people can enjoy Gumbo Social for dinner, whether they pick up in person or order from home.
Funds raised will help cover the equipment, safety upgrades, and operational costs needed to launch and test the program. We'll use donations to install a service door, add security cameras, and ensure we have the staffing needed to serve our community safely and efficiently. This pilot program is a direct response to what our neighbors have asked for, and it will only continue if people adopt it and support.
If you've ever wished you could grab a bowl of gumbo or a po'boy for dinner, this is your chance to help make it happen. Your support will help us bring more delicious food to Bayview and create a safer, more vibrant evening for everyone. Every donation counts, and together, we can make this pilot program a reality.
