This gofundme was set up by the aunt and family of Guillermo with the intention of helping raise money so he can continue to receive top medical care.

My nephew Guillermo is 11 years old and was a healthy and happy boy until May 31, 2024 when he began having complications breathing and was taken to the ER and had emergency surgery after discovering he had accumulated liquid in his lungs. Guillermo is currently in Hospital Metropolitano de Quito, in Ecuador and has been here since May 31. He has since had four more invasive surgeries as the liquid in his lungs keeps draining. It is unsure what exactly is causing the liquid in his lungs to drain and the doctors said they have never seen this before and are asking for international help.

To transport Guillermo to the US via special plane would cost $50,000 which is already outside of the hospital bill of $80,000 that keeps growing day by day. The pain that this has caused my family is beyond immense, we only wish to see Guillermo in good health. His most recent surgery was June 23, 2024 to expand his left lung as it was collapsed. His right lung doesn't drain fluid, all cancer diagnosis have been ruled out and doctors are still trying to figure out why he is still draining fluid.

My nephew is just a young boy, kind, funny, creative. Like so many young boys he loves video games, and swimming competitively. Guillermo has dreams and a life ahead of him.
