Our family is going through something we never imagined. Our beloved dog, Gucci, a 7-year-old Yorkie and our daughter’s absolute best friend, was the victim of a serious dog attack that became a life-or-death emergency. The injuries were severe. Gucci suffered abdominal evisceration, meaning his intestines were forced outside of his body due to the trauma. He had multiple deep wounds and major damage to his abdominal wall that required immediate emergency surgery to repair internal and external injuries. He also sustained four broken ribs and significant trauma to his chest area. We rushed him to emergency care and told the veterinary team to do whatever it took to save him. Watching him go through this has been one of the most traumatic experiences of our lives, but Gucci is a fighter. He is stable and now recovering at home, but he is still in pain and has a very long road ahead. He requires around-the-clock (24/7) care for up to 8 weeks, along with medications, careful monitoring, restricted movement, and multiple follow-up veterinary visits to make sure his body heals properly and to prevent complications. The emotional toll has been overwhelming, and now we are facing overwhelming veterinary bills from the emergency surgeries and ongoing care. We would never hesitate to save him — he is family — and we are reaching out for help to cover the costs of his care.
