Grumpy Gus has been having seizures every 4 months for the past year. Lately, they’ve become more common and more severe, he’s lost a significant amount of weight, and his kidneys are failing. We’re trying to figure out what the cause of this rapid decline is for such a young baby so that we can treat him. He’s been admitted into the hospital for at least 6 days. Our pet insurance will only cover $5,000 of the neurologist/hospital bills. The total cost will be closer to $13,000, so we are trying to raise $8,000 to cover the rest. I know this sounds like a crazy amount for two students to try to raise for a cat, but Grumpy is only 4 years old his brother needs him. 

Grumpy is one of three littermates that my husband and I adopted in 2021. One of Grumpy’s brothers (Shadow) passed from FIP at 8 months old, his other brother (Chewy) also got FIP but was thankfully cured after 84 days of injections, and now Grumpy is having major medical issues. Before getting our cats, we had a senior German Shepherd Pinky. While Jorge was deployed overseas I had to deal with Pinky’s terminal cancer and Shadow’s FIP and passing all alone, literally the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever gone through. When Chewy got sick I knew I had to do everything to save him, and we did. Now Grumpy needs saving and we will literally do anything and everything to give him a second chance at life.
