Help Grow Girls Lacrosse Across CO's West Slope
Donation protected
West Slope U19 Club Lacrosse was founded in 2021 after discovering the need for additional lacrosse opportunities for female athletes at the High School level. With a great deal of opportunity at the collegiate level for women in lacrosse, West Slope U19 Club is actively working to grow the sport across the Western Slope of Colorado, increase the level of competitive play and capitalize on opportunities for players from Fruita to Durango, Montrose to Gunnison and everywhere in between.
Within its first year, the team has expanded from a passionate group of 20 players from Fruita, Grand Junction, Telluride and Durango, to a tryout awarded travel team, accommodating alternates at the practice level to ensure field time is available to all levels.
In 2022, West Slope will travel to three tournaments:
- Ski Town Shootout - Park City, UT - June 3-5
- Vail Shootout - Vail, CO - June 27-30
- Santa Barbara Showdown - Santa Barbara, CA - October 13-15
Each of these tournaments presents an opportunity for scouts, coaches and recruiters to gain exposure to the established level of play in Western Colorado. Simultaneously, these tournaments give the players a chance to continue to develop their skills, participate in low consequence but competitive play, and discover how high-level lacrosse truly feels both as a competitor and observer.
Given registration costs, lodging, transportation, coaching staff time, food and other fees, we are kicking off our fundraising season with a GoFundMe. Our belief, as coaches, is that no player should have to pay to play a sport that they love nor to gain roster placement at the school of their dreams.
In all, we hope to continue to grow the sport of lacrosse on the Western Slope, across Colorado, and throughout the country.
