Hello! If you're here I want to say thank you for even looking. Our sweet pit mix, Griselda aka Grizzy, our gentle giant who is too sweet for words, needs help in a MAJOR way!
In February we noticed Grizzy, was limping. We made a vet appointment immediately and got our little tank checked out. At first the diagnosis was inflammation from what was thought to be a tendon strain. Unfortunately the anti-inflammatories and rest did not help and she only got worse. She needs a lot of help to get around so I lift all 71lbs of her onto the couch and I carry her up any stairs to ease the workload on her hind legs.
Fast forward to June 14 when we scheduled a sedated exam, we learned that Grizzy had actually ruptured her ACL on her left leg and required surgery. The initial estimate from our usual vet was $3500-$4000. June 17 we had our consultation with the specialist and learned that she had actually ruptured tendons in both legs, which is very common in pits and pit mixes apparently, and our quote soared to $6500-7500.
Although we don't know how we're paying for this we set an appointment for August 18 just to make sure she got an appointment. Scheduling is packed right now. My partner and I are working as much as we can to save, we've already spent about $500 just in vet appointments and bloodwork, the rest of life hasn't slowed down, and it's difficult to imagine how to make that much money in 2 months. So we're turning to you, reader, and asking for help since our sweet Grizzy girl can't ask for herself.
Any and all funds received will go directly towards surgery costs and follow up appointments. Any excess will be used exclusively for our dogs health and wellbeing (food, supplements, supplies, toys, etc).
If you took the time to read our story I want to say thank you again. Your time is invaluable and spending it on us means a lot to us. If you're able to donate, we can't describe the impact you'll have on a pup's life. That being said, we fully understand that most people cannot spare anything and so even a share is as valuable as gold to us. Thank you again for reading, thank you for any donations, and thank you for any shares. People's kindness and empathy has been nothing short of humbling.
Sincerely,
James, Kelsey, and Griselda
