Help Grisel & Andrew Stay Near Baby Andrew During Recovery

Hi everyone,

I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my sister Grisel, her boyfriend Andrew and their incredible little hero, Baby Andrew.

Baby Andrew spent 52 days in the NICU recovering from CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia). He finally made it home and was on the road to recovery—but earlier this week, he was readmitted to the hospital following a hernia repair surgery(different from CDH) where doctors discovered a chyle leak.

Since March, Grisel and Andrew have been staying in an apartment in Tampa to remain close to the hospital. Thankfully, an organization helped cover a portion of that cost, which was an incredible blessing. But now that lease has ended, and with Baby Andrew back in the hospital—and their dog Gigi with them—they're in urgent need of a place to stay nearby, most likely an Airbnb.

To make matters more stressful, it’s Fourth of July weekend, and Airbnb prices are significantly higher than usual. They’re hoping this will only be for a few more days—but with the unpredictable nature of recovery, they need to be prepared.

Grisel is currently unemployed as she’s been fully dedicated to caring for Baby Andrew since his birth. Andrew has also had to take an unexpected week of unpaid leave so he can be by their son’s side during this time—adding to the financial strain they weren’t prepared for.

Grisel and Andrew would never ask for help themselves, which is why I’m doing this for them. They had been hoping to finally begin their journey back home to New Jersey—but life had other plans. Right now, they simply need a safe, nearby place to stay while Baby Andrew continues his recovery.
