Help Baby Griffin & His Family Through Surgery and Recovery

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf of my cousin Griffin(baby G) and his parents, who are going through an incredibly challenging time.

Dara(mom) and Travis(dad) have their "BIGS" (older kiddos) Reese and Ryder. They had Baby G' (Griffin) in January of this year whom has been diagnosed with Pierre Robin Sequence and will soon undergo a complex, multi-stage surgical procedure at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.

The procedure involves surgically separating Griffin’s jawbone and gradually lengthening it using a special device. After the device is implanted, it must stay in place for several weeks to allow new bone to form, followed by another surgery to remove it. Recovery is long and will require constant post-operative care—both in the hospital and at home.

Most recently, Griffin underwent a sleep study in which showed he will be needing oxygen at night time.

These challenges would be difficult for any family, but unfortunately, everything is hitting at once for Dara and Travis.

They will need to travel frequently between their home in Eugene and Portland for Griffin’s care—including surgeries, recovery, and several physical therapy / occupational therapy sessions per week after healing.

Hotel stays & gas alone will add up fast.

To make matters more difficult, Dara and Travis have not yet earned paid family leave at their jobs and are having to take unpaid time off to care for their baby boy.

As you can imagine, these back-to-back expenses are overwhelming. This is why we're asking for your support. All donations will go toward:

Childcare for Griffin’s siblings

Lost wages from unpaid time off work

Essential supplies for post-surgery care
