Military Family looses toddler in unsafe Military housing

Story:
Hello, my name is Sophia, and I’m a military spouse, mother, and advocate for the safety and dignity of our service members and their families.

On July 5th, 2025, our military community in La Mesa, California experienced a tragedy that should never have happened.

A beautiful 15-month-old baby boy—the son of one of my husband’s Navy EOD teammates—fell from a second-story window in his military housing unit and did not survive.

This was not an isolated tragedy. We’ve since learned that there have been miltiple similar incidents since 2020— Just two weeks prior, another child fell from a second-story window in another San Diego based Military housing complex and families were never warned. Per multiple residents, there are allegedly

No Safety inspections, Substandard if any.

No window guards that protect small children.

No notice to residents.

No action taken to prevent this.

These families, who already sacrifice so much, were placed in homes where basic child safety standards were ignored—with deadly consequences.

Why We're Raising Funds
We are asking for your support to help this family and to fuel the larger fight for justice and reform. Donations will be used to:

✅ Support the grieving family during this unimaginable time (funeral expenses, time off work, care needs)
✅ Pursue advocacy to hold those responsible accountable
✅ Push for federal and local reform of privatized military housing safety standards
✅ Fund awareness and media campaigns to ensure these stories are no longer hidden

How You Can Help
Donate – any amount, big or small, will help lift this family and this cause.

Share – post this page on your social media, in your community, and beyond.

Speak up – contact your representatives, ask for investigations, and demand change.

This Should Never Happen Again
No parent should ever lose a child because the home they were provided was unsafe. No military family should be left in the dark about the risks in their own living space.

Military families deserve more. Our children deserve safety in their own homes. And this family deserves justice, healing, and support.

Please consider donating—any amount helps, and if you’re unable to give, sharing this story could help bring about the awareness

We are committed to ensuring no other child is harmed by this ongoing negligence—and to honoring the memory of a precious little boy whose life was stolen too soon.

Thank you for standing with us in grief, in love, and in action.
We will not stop until these homes are made safe, and until justice is served.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Sophia
