Hello friends, family, the community, and cat/pet lovers from all over.

I want to introduce you to our fur baby Greywind, who is our 3-year-old tabby cat. He was born a feral kitten, found under a friend’s porch in St. Paul, Minnesota. My husband and I adopted him and his sister when they were around 3 months old. He is the sweetest cat ever and has been nothing but pure love. He’s the kind of cat who greets everyone, asks for affection, and somehow makes every room feel warmer just by being in it. He truly means the world to us.

Earlier this week, everything changed and we noticed some concerning behaviors. Greywind suddenly stopped using his litter box, began vomiting, and became extremely lethargic. He didn’t respond to his name and wasn’t acting like himself at all. Trusting our instincts, we rushed him to the emergency vet.

There, we learned he was suffering from a urethral obstruction caused by bladder stones—a condition known as Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD). His bladder had backed up, and without immediate treatment, we were told he would not survive. Greywind had to be catheterized, put on antibiotics, and remained hospitalized in the ER for two nights so his little body could stabilize.

Hearing that his condition was life-threatening was devastating. We never imagined we’d be facing a decision like this so suddenly, or that trying to save his life would come with such overwhelming costs.

If anyone in our community is able to help ease a portion of the expenses for his emergency care, hospitalization, and medications, it would mean more than we can put into words. Every bit of support helps give Greywind the chance to recover and continue the life he loves so much.

Thank you for taking the time to read Greywind’s story, and for any kindness, thoughts, or shares during this incredibly difficult moment for our family.

UPDATE on Greywind 1/12/25
Greywind has shown so much improvement, and it’s been incredibly comforting to see. He’s no longer aggressive toward his sister, his appetite has returned, and he’s slowly starting to drink water on his own. While he’s still having some difficulty urinating normally, he’s using the litter box more consistently and making steady progress

We’ve completely changed his diet to wet food only, and he only has two more days of antibiotics left. He’s also on pain medications and we will use it as needed. Every small step forward feels like a big win, and we’re holding onto hope as he continues to heal.

Update: 1/20
Greywind update — great news! We’re so happy to share that Greywind is officially back to his happy, playful self. Like I said, he is the sweetest cat ever and has been loving all the cuddles, hugs, and kisses. He’s drinking lots of water, eating normally, and has his energy back. He’s finished his medications and isn’t showing any signs of illness.
