Hello,
My name is Vickie Ali. My youngest brother Greg Lopez lost his wife Billie Joe who was the love of his life, high school sweetheart, his world.
Billie Joe passed away on May 14th.
Her battle with breast cancer lasted for 3 1/2 years and ultimately spread and took over. I would say her last year was probably where her condition really escalated. Throughout all of Billie’s agony and pain she was so courageous, positive and she continued to work until about 2 months ago when she just did not have the energy and realized she needed to slow down and rest.
They have 3 beautiful children, their daughter Georgia the youngest child will be graduating from high school next month and two sons, Mickey the oldest and Jackie who are both in their 20’s.
Georgia missed her high school prom because she would not leave her Mother’s side at the hospital up until Billie Joe’s passing.
My brother Greg I feel has not had a good nights sleep the entire 3 1/2 years since this nightmare entered their world.
My brother is such a hard worker and I can’t tell you how many times he’s been by Billie’s side at the hospital as it seems she averaged a stay at least once a month these last 6 months and I’m sure we/my extended family never knew about all of the times.
My brother is a man of few words and he keeps all his emotions inside.
I see his pain and tears now that she’s gone not to mention my niece who is struggling and their sons as well.
My brother is lost trying to figure out how life will be now, it’s so overwhelming and I worry for his well being. He works at Trader Joe’s in the WLA area and they have been supportive of all the time he’s had to take off.
On top of all this agony, his car has been in the shop over a month and he has a rental car.
I can’t even begin to imagine the medical bills he may be faced with. My brother would never reach out for help and that’s why I felt the need to do whatever I could including reaching out to all of you.
Anything you can give to my brother and his family is so greatly appreciated.
Cancer is such a demon and no person and family should have to endure so much pain and agony.
U want to thank my sister and her family
Lisa Serna, Danny her husband and my niece Tyler for being there for them every step of the way and to Billie’s loving sister Amy and her family for also being there every day from day one.
I’m praying for my brother and family to find peace and know Billie Joe is now free of pain and suffering. May she rest in peace. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and also whatever you can do to help is greatly appreciated.
Love
and hugs
