Gregory always loved school and was a top student in the Dominican Republic, his dream of becoming a Business Administrator had to be put on a hold, when his older brother drowned. He had to work and support his mom and his niece who he raised her as his daughter. Gregory is the youngest of three from his mother side and also the oldest son from his father side.
When Gregory came to the USA he worked two jobs to support his mother and niece back home. He's paying for her education as she’s currently in college. Gregory always wanted to have kids of his own and his dream came true on May 2019 when his daughter Grace Marie Martinez was born.
On September 2021 Gregory started to have stomach pain that wouldn’t go away. His doctor sent him for a CT scan of the abdomen & pelvis. Afterwards he was sent to the ER because they thought he had a perforated ulcer. They did an endoscopy where they found a bacteria(H. Pylori) he took the medications, but that stomach pain wouldn’t go away. On November 2021 he decided to go see another doctor who sent him to repeat the CT Scan of the abdomen and pelvis. On that test they saw a mass and something on his colon. He was sent to the ER and they did a biopsy and a colonoscopy. It was positive to metastasized colon cancer. Due to a mass that formed outside his transverse, colon surgery had be put on hold because the mass is located around the blood vessels and main artery . He’s started his first immunotherapy and had a chemo port implantation. We hope and pray that the immunotherapy works and no need for chemotherapy.
Currently Gregory is on a medical leave of absence from his job as a painter for a residential building in NYC. He needs help to pay his medical and daily life expenses as well as send money home to his mother and niece. This is never easy asking for help but at age 34 my whole life has been turned upside down and any support I receive will be truly appreciated.
