Help Gregorio's Medical Needs

Gregorio is a 51 year old man who dedicates his time to his family, community, and church. An electrician and plumber by trade, he has given so much of his time and skills to building a church in Emiliano Zapata for people in need to commune, worship, eat and receive donated necessities.

A few months ago, Gregorio began losing weight rapidly and having trouble eating. He went to the doctor, and they sent him to Ensenada, 162 km (100 miles) away, to see some specialists. Over a 3 month period, after 7 appointments and tests on his thyroid, blood sugar and heart, they finally did an ultrasound on his abdomen. What they found was a 20 cm (7.8 in) tumor putting pressure on his intestines and dangerously close to damaging the blood supply to his heart. Fortunately, they were able to remove the tumor and save his life.

As the sole provider for his family, his wife and 16 year old daughter, having his 18 year career put on hold is devastating. His illness and operation have left him unable to work for the last 6 months. He is facing an uncertain future. He will need more tests to determine the best treatments, but having a job that demands so much of him physically is not possible right now.

In the spirit of helping, we are asking you to give what you can to help Gregorio. He will need gas money to get to Ensenada for treatment, money for medication, and money to supplement his lack of income. Anything you can do will help. This man who gives so much to others deserves a little bit of kindness. We thank you as a little bit will go a long way.
