Hey y’all, my dad’s not doing so great. Nearly three years of aggressive treatment for his stage IV esophageal cancer have started to take their toll. On August 10th, he was tested and confirmed positive for Covid-19. On August 15th, he was admitted to the ICU with acute kidney failure and dangerously low blood pressure. He has made some slight improvements with treatment, but we’re not out of the woods yet.
My uncle and I are about to shoulder my dad’s financial responsibilities on top of our own, and I’m asking for your help. He has good insurance through his job, but we are still most likely going to see a bill for a percentage of his treatment. I’m in the process of applying for short-term disability provided by his work, but it will most likely be weeks until he gets his first payment.
Meanwhile, my uncle is in quarantine from being exposed to my dad, and I’ve had to take off work to be at the hospital. My dad hasn’t been aware enough to make decisions for himself and those have been left to me.
My mom and I have had countless ER visits, hospital stays, and surgeries; my dad has always sat in that chair in the room to ask questions and advocate for us. It’s my turn and responsibility to do the same for him.
All donations will go towards keeping our bills caught up and future medical expenses.
