Help Greg Schaus

Donation protected
On Thursday, August 31, 2018, when Greg had not shown up for work for three days, police were called to go to his house to check on his well-being.  They found him in his home, a victim of a vicious attack, with serious head injuries.  A police investigation is taking place and a person is in custody.  We will not disclose information that may jeopardize the investigation and ask your cooperation in doing the same.

Greg was rushed to hospital where he underwent an 8-hour surgery to save his life.  He is currently at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta, where he will stay for the foreseeable future.  His parents, Roger and Cheryl Schaus, were able to fly out from Ontario to be with him while he recovers.

The injuries to Greg’s head were extensive, causing swelling and detachment of one of his eyes.  Since his surgery, as the swelling has been relieved, he has so far not required further surgery, and it is believed that his eye can be saved.  He is recovering well and they have been able to reduce his pain medication, which is a great sign.

As of September 5, Greg was able to vocalise a small amount and they have him starting to walk small distances.  They are estimating that the swelling in his brain may take up to 3 months to go away.  He is starting to work with a speech therapist.

This Go-Fund-Me has been started to assist Greg and his family with finances as he recovers.  Greg will be unable to work.  While he is in hospital, his parents are out in Alberta to be with him, so they are also away from their jobs.  Once he has been released, he will likely need therapy and accessible accommodations during his recovery.

We would like to make sure he has everything he requires to make a fast and full recovery.  We are appealing to his friends and family to assist us by donating to this fund.  Any donations will be greatly appreciated, and there is no amount too small.

Thanks so much for any assistance you can provide!
