Help Greg's Critical Recovery Abroad and Bring Him Home

Dear Family, Friends and our California Wine Merchant Community.

I’m Deborah, Greg’s wife.

This photo was taken in Lyon, France on April 10th - just before we were set to begin a wine country road trip through the Rhône Valley. The very next day, Greg suffered a near-fatal cardiac arrest.

Miraculously, two young women trained in CPR worked on Greg for 30 minutes until paramedics arrived and continued efforts for another 45 minutes. The paramedics told us to say goodbye - that Greg wasn’t expected to survive the ambulance ride to the hospital.

Once in the ICU, he endured multiple cardiac arrests and began a 10-day stay in critical condition. Three days in, he suffered another cardiac arrest. Over the following 2 weeks he's shown slow signs of recovery—despite painful broken ribs, pneumonia, dangerously low blood pressure, and surgery to insert a stent into his heart. He now needs an additional procedure to implant an internal defibrillator before doctors can consider it safe for him to be discharged and fly home.

Chelsea, Riley, and I are by his side 24/7, and we’re incredibly grateful to the medical team for their extraordinary care. This was sudden, shocking, and has brought significant out-of-pocket expenses while we remain in France, awaiting his second surgery and a safe way to fly him home.

We especially want to thank the two determined young women who kept Greg alive before help arrived. They made the difference between life and death. Greg knows just how lucky he is.
