Help Greg recover from a paddleboarding injury

Hello, my name is Greg Melega and I'm an artist from Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, NJ. It's a bit strange for me to ask for help in this regard, but after a recent injury I am feeling guided to do just that.

About a week ago I went paddleboarding on one of my favorite rivers with a buddy. The water levels were lower than expected, which means your fin gets hung up on deadfall pretty easily.

My fin hit a log which rocked me off the side of my board, making me come down on my foot very hard to stabilize. I landed on an underwater cedar branch that punctured the bottom of my foot and broke off under tension in the top side of my foot. I then had to paddle 6 miles out to get to our car.

It's been a long week in the hospital, needing to get the branch and smaller pieces surgically removed and be closely monitored due an growing infection. There was minor broken bone, ripped muscle and tendon damage. It's a rough guess that I will not be able to put pressure on my foot for 2 weeks, and cannot walk for 4 weeks.

I'm home now but have a long healing journey to come after such an intensive injury. I'm so happy to be stable and on the mend as this could have been way worse. I'm indescribably grateful for the family and friends that have reached out to show love and support. Because of how deep of a wound this is and how close the infection got to the bone, my body needs to rest, slow down, enjoy the simple things, and heal up to be better than ever. I've realized that is going to take a bit of time. Unfortunately the needs of day to day life don't slow down to help with that. I still need to visit with many doctors, infectious disease specialists, pay rent, car insurance amungst the many other bills a sole proprietor must keep up with, and continue the natural healing methods that benefit my recovery like a healthy diet, accupuncture, massage, meditation and energy healing. I ask for your help in this time to literally get me back on my feet and continue to make art that helps us all connect with the natural world. I look forward so much to getting healthy and back to making things. I can't thank you enough. -Greg
