Help Me Beat Thyroid Cancer
Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,
After finally becoming seizure-free on July 31st after four difficult years of seizures, I have now been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
Surgery is scheduled for March 20th at UC Davis. Doctors have confirmed the 2 cm tumor has probably been growing for years, and the cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. Because I recently started a commission-only job as a mortgage broker and have not had income yet, I urgently need help covering basic expenses while I go through surgery, treatment, and recovery.
Looking back, many of the symptoms I’ve been dealing with — fatigue, brain fog, and metabolic changes — may have been related to thyroid dysfunction and this cancer, not just medication side effects. My doctors have explained that hormone fluctuations, illness, inflammation, and health stressors can lower the seizure threshold, so addressing these issues will help reduce the risk of future seizures.
Between surgery, specialist appointments, imaging, recovery time, and follow-up treatment, I am currently unable to work.
Asking for help is incredibly difficult. I worked hard to become seizure-free, and I was just beginning to rebuild my life and career. Now I’m facing another major health battle at the exact moment I have no financial cushion.
Your support will help with:
Medical expenses not covered by insurance
Travel and lodging for appointments and treatment
Basic living expenses while I recover
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page, offering encouragement, or keeping me in your thoughts and prayers would mean so much.
If anyone has experience with disability benefits or assistance programs for cancer patients who are independent contractors, I would deeply appreciate any guidance.
I fought hard to stabilize my seizures, and I will fight just as hard to overcome this. My hope is to put both of these battles behind me and move forward with my life.
Thank you for standing with me during this unexpected chapter.
With gratitude,
Greg
