Help Greg Provide a Safe Home for Oaxaca Kids
Donation protected
Hi friends. I´m Greg Grinley and I live in in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca, Mexico. I moved here in 2018 and have been involved with Cuidad de los Niñas y Niños since 2019. I know the organization, the director Jesus, and many of the kids. Most of the 50 or so kids will be there until they age out of the orphanage. They come to the "casa hogar" (house-home as they call it) usually around 3-5 years old and stay until 16 typically. Although now they are receiving younger and younger kids, babies and infants and now 3 kids are in high school and will stay at the orphanage until they graduate thanks to GoFundMe donations I set up awhile back. The orphanage simply cannot afford to keep older children. Kids come to the orphanage from extreme poverty. Often from the mountain villages around Oaxaca City and for various reasons - the family simply cannot feed another baby. Single moms, addiction, violence and prostitution are common when someone brings a child to surrender. The stories are almost too much to hear. Kids are terrified, alone, malnurished and have had little if any education. The orphanage bed is likely the first bed they have ever slept on. Let alone clean clothes, hygiene and 3 meals a day. Plus what stikes me very time I visit is that the orphanage is a family. They come to see the staff and other kids as their family and start to feel safe and even loved.
