Help the Payne Family through a difficult time

Tax deductible
As we start the new year off we are reaching out to our friends and family to help one of our firefighters who recently suffered a serious medical emergency.

In the early morning of December 9th 2024 Greg Payne, a captain with the Oxnard Fire Department, woke up and asked his wife Jessica to drive him to the hospital immediately. He felt dizzy, nauseous, couldn’t stand and couldn’t move the left side of his body. As a firefighter with the Oxnard Fire Department for over 20 years he has seen this multiple times and he knew that this could be something serious. He was admitted to the hospital and tests were run; it seemed at the time that this was a case of Vertigo. For the next week and a half symptoms persisted and worsened. This led to more detailed medical exams being performed which indicated that this was more than Vertigo, it had been a Stroke. As a firefighter family and community we, the Oxnard Firefighters, had originally started a meal train and looked for ways to help our brother and his family navigate what we thought would be a brief healing and recovery period from Vertigo. The more recent news has drastically changed the timeline for Greg, Jessica and their 3 sons.

We, the Oxnard Firefighters, are hopeful that our community can help Greg and his family during this difficult situation. Greg has been in public service for most of his life. He grew up in Los Osos, CA where he met his wife Jessica and had a standout football career that led him to the University of Arizona. Once he finished with his athletic career he returned home he set his sights on joining the fire service and starting a family with his wife Jessica. He started out his career as a firefighter with CDF where he was stationed in Paso Robles. He eventually was hired with the City of Oxnard and has continued serving the community as a member of the Oxnard Fire Department. With a life of being a husband, father to 3 boys, youth football and soccer coach in Camarillo, and a career as a Oxnard Firefighter responding to help others, Greg is now the one in need of help. With a prolonged recovery timeline putting Greg off of work for the next few months we are asking for your help.

We hope to update you on Greg’s recovery. All proceeds collected will be donated to the Payne Family.
