If you’ve ever stood a few feet away while he was mid‑solo, you know exactly what they can do — the focus, the fire, the joy.

As lead guitarist and singer for Chango, Greg has brought music and energy to weekly performances at Evangelo’s and beyond.

By day, many of you know him from LewAllen & LewAllen Jewelry in downtown Santa Fe, where his warmth, patience, and genuine kindness made countless customers feel welcome and cared for.

A proud Santa Fe native, he is deeply woven into the heart of this community. To know him is truly to love him. He has a gift for making every single person he meets feel seen and valued. So many people meet him once and walk away feeling like they’ve known him for years.

Two weeks ago, Greg suffered a series of strokes.

True to his spirit, he remains positive and determined. But recovery will take time, rest, and months of rehabilitation.

Why we’re raising funds — and why the need is significant

Stroke recovery is long, unpredictable, and expensive. Greg now faces:

Hospital and specialist bills, including neurological care and follow‑up imaging

Ongoing rehabilitation, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy

Medications and medical equipment, which can add up quickly

Transportation to appointments several times a week

Essential living expenses while he is unable to work

As many of you know, musicians and small‑business employees often lack the safety net of traditional benefits. And in Greg’s case, that loss of income is especially painful because he has also been a financial support for family members, something he can no longer do during his recovery.

These combined medical and living costs — along with the sudden loss of both his performance income and his day‑job hours — are why the fundraising goal is substantial.
