I come to you today with a request that I never thought I’d have to make. My dad, Greg Dodd, has been in the hospital since Saturday, fighting for his life after a brutal battle with COVID. When he was admitted, he was in end-stage kidney and liver failure and his platelets were dangerously depleted. It’s a miracle that we’ve seen even small signs of improvement, but the reality is that the situation remains grave, and the road to recovery will be long and uncertain.

My father is a remarkable man—someone who has always been a beacon of strength, love, and unwavering support for those around him. As a single dad, he poured everything he had into raising me, ensuring that I was surrounded by kindness, compassion, and the kind of joy that only he could bring. His selflessness is legendary among those who know him; his laughter and warmth have brightened so many lives.

But now, as we stand by his side, praying for his recovery, we’re faced with a challenge that feels insurmountable. My dad does not have medical insurance, and the hospital bills are already piling up. The care he needs—physical therapy, specialist visits, countless tests—will require resources that we simply don’t have. And with the cause of his complications still uncertain, and platelets still dangerously low, the weight of this financial burden grows heavier by the day.
