Help Greg and Elizabeth Recover After House Fire

Donation protected
*** Pupdate*** On Fiona- She was seen by a vet on 1/2. On exam they found instabilty of the left knee and swelling so the took x-rays of both back legs for comparison study, which indicated a torn Acl. Fion has been put on anti inflamatoy and pain meds for 2 weeks. There will be a follow up with orthopedic surgeon for acl replacement surgery. For a dog her size the estimated expense will be roughly $4-5 thousand dollars for surgery.
After surgery prognosis is great for full recovery! And just like with humans, there will be arthritis in the knee when she gets older. **** So happy to hear that prognosis is good for Fiona with surgery- Funds collected will help her get the needed surgery!
I am reaching out to share the heartbreaking news of Greg and Elizabeth Coomler's recent tragedy. Greg and Elizabeth, who participated in the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities program that I managed at Purdue in 2016, have suffered the devastating loss of their home due to a house fire. I took it upon myself to help this couple rebuild their lives after this devastation.
On December 15th at 5:25am, Greg woke to the sound of their smoke detector chirping briefly before it melted from the extreme temperature of the fire inside their home. Thanks to the smoke alarm warning, Greg was able to quickly gather his family and get everyone out of the house safely. However, the ordeal was not without difficulty, as their beloved dog Fiona went missing in the chaos. Greg courageously went back into the burning house, risking his own safety, to find Fiona hiding in the bedroom. After a harrowing search, he managed to rescue her through an open window before throwing himself to safety.

Since the fire, the Coomler family has been temporarily relocated to a hotel, but they are in urgent need of assistance to find a place to rent until they can secure a new home. The emotional toll of this traumatic experience has been overwhelming for Greg and his family. Greg, a medically retired Army veteran, already faces daily challenges with pain management and physical limitations, including lifting.
It would be wonderful to see our community and beyond come together to support this veteran and his family as they rebuild their lives. Your generous contributions will go towards securing a new home, covering essential living expenses, providing veterinary services for Fiona and providing much-needed emotional support during this difficult time.
Greg's dog Fiona is finding it hard to stand and walk since the fire. Unfortunately, Fiona was injured while escaping the fire, and the insurance coverage does not extend to animal medical visits or any bills associated with her injuries. As Greg and Elizabeth focus on rebuilding their lives, they are also faced with the additional challenge of ensuring Fiona receives the necessary medical care and support she needs to recover. Your generous contributions will not only help Greg and Elizabeth, but also provide much-needed assistance for Fiona's veterinary expenses during this difficult time.
Even though they have lost everything they owned, Greg and Elizabeth remain grateful for their safety and the love they share as a family. They are truly blessed to have each other, but they cannot overcome this tragedy alone. Your support, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in their lives.
Please consider making a donation to help Greg and Elizabeth Coomler rebuild after this devastating house fire. Your kindness and generosity will provide them with the hope and resources they need to start anew.
Thank you for your compassion and support
