We are heartbroken to share that our neighbors in the Greenwood community are facing unimaginable hardship after a devastating house fire destroyed their home. This loving family, with two young boys ages 7 and 4, is now left trying to navigate the overwhelming next steps—finding a safe place to stay, beginning the long process of reconstruction, and replacing the many essentials they’ve lost.

The family has called this house their home for the past seven years. In that time, they have been incredibly open, kind, and outgoing—well-connected with their neighbors and always ready to lend a hand. Their absence will be felt deeply in our community, especially as reconstruction may take up to 18 months, meaning they will not be able to move back anytime soon.

The fire began outside in their backyard, and by the time the mother noticed the flames, the smoke was already too hot and thick to allow any time to save belongings. Thankfully, everyone in the affected and surrounding townhomes was able to escape without physical injury. However, the emotional toll has been deep for all who witnessed this horrific fire, and the family is reeling from the sudden loss of their home.

While their boys were safely at school at the time of the fire, they are heartbroken over the loss of their toys and the familiar comforts of home—a sadness every parent can understand. Beyond replacing toys, clothes, and daily necessities, the family now faces the daunting journey of rebuilding stability and creating a sense of normalcy for their children.
