Help Me Establish Green Window
My name is Helton Luís Baiá. For many years, I have worked with Tiniguena New Generation, an environmental organisation in Guinea-Bissau. Through this work, I have been involved in projects focused on environmental protection, active citizenship and responsible food consumption. Tiniguena also ran a radio programme to raise awareness of these issues.
In 2013, I was selected for the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community, Bissau Hub. I am now a member of its Alumni Network.
Alongside my environmental work, I founded a Christian group called Servos de Deus. Through the group, I share my faith in Jesus Christ and the importance of living according to His teachings. I mention it as part of my personal background. Servos de Deus is a separate project: this fundraiser is exclusively for the legal establishment and initial investment of Green Window. No donations to this campaign are intended to fund Servos de Deus.
What Is Green Window?
I founded Green Window to help connect producers and communities in Portuguese-speaking African countries with scientific knowledge, reliable environmental data and responsible markets. The project is still at an early stage. My aim is to begin implementing it in 2027, provided that sufficient funding, legal authorisations and suitable partners are in place.
Green Window plans to start with two activities: supporting the sale of traceable cashew nuts sourced from qualified producers and cooperatives, and providing agricultural and environmental monitoring services.
In agriculture, we want to help producers and field teams record crops, monitor production and respond to issues such as water stress and pests. In environmental work, we aim to study areas such as mangroves, coastlines and habitats using satellite imagery, field observations and, where appropriate, drones. Results will need to be checked against evidence collected on the ground.
How Will We Build It?
In 2027–2028, we plan to legally establish Green Window, assemble a core team, select local partners and pilot locations, and develop the first working versions of our digital tools. We will test the approach with producers and carry out initial agricultural and environmental studies.
In 2028–2029, we aim to test the tools with users, validate monitoring results in the field, complete an agricultural pilot and an environmental pilot, and seek our first paying customers.
From 2029, we intend to expand activities that demonstrate practical value, customer demand and sustainable costs. Each step will depend on the necessary people, partnerships, permissions and funding being in place.
The planned team covers management, technology and data, scientific quality, local operations, sales and finance. We will also need to work with producers, cooperatives, laboratories, specialists and qualified drone operators. These are roles and partnerships to build as Green Window develops; they are not all in place today.
Why I Am Asking for €2.5 Million
I am seeking €2.5 million exclusively for Green Window’s legal establishment and initial structural investment.
The business plan sets aside €625,000 for digital tools, including a field app, internal management systems and the Green Window website. It allocates €500,000 to remote sensing, including the use of satellite and drone data, and another €500,000 to scientific equipment, laboratory partnerships and quality procedures.
A further €375,000 is planned for pilot projects, local teams and fieldwork in Portuguese-speaking African countries. The budget also includes €250,000 for the core team, €125,000 to reach potential customers and prepare contracts, and €125,000 as a reserve for unexpected costs and cash-flow needs. Together, these amounts make up the €2.5 million goal.
Funding would be used in stages: first, establishing the company, building the core team and preparing pilots; then, completing working tools and validating pilots; and finally, expanding activities that show demand and can be delivered responsibly. A detailed operating budget will set out the precise spending by year and stage. I intend to share updates on what has been funded and achieved.
The business plan also identifies operating cash needs beyond this €2.5 million investment goal. Its projections are planning targets, not guaranteed outcomes.
If you would like to help me take the first steps towards making Green Window a reality, please donate what you can or share this campaign.
Thank you for considering my request.
