Help Grayson Overcome a Tough Experience

When your child learns first hand that the world we live in is full of heartless people, it absolutely crushes you.

Grayson has been working over the last year buying and reselling used clothes online. He has spent hours scouring local thrift stores, taking pictures, and reselling the clothes online. So far, he has saved up $1K.

He decided that he was going to sell his E-bike, to put towards a car, as he is set to get his license at the end of the month. He has bought and sold many items on OfferUp and has always had great experiences.

Unfortunately, this was not the case last night. We met up with a person, and we got absolutely played. Looking back, there were many red flags, and I am just kicking myself that we didn't see it sooner. There were mistakes made and it cost my son his e-bike. I have replayed the whole transaction so many times, and my brain has been so flooded with how this could've been prevented. I am so mad at myself. I am having so much guilt because I feel like I failed as a parent. My #1 job is to protect my children, and I wasn't able to do that last night. I am heartbroken for my boy. While I am overwhelmed with feelings of anger, frustration, guilt, and embarrassment, above all, I am so grateful that he wasn't hurt. We have filed a police report, and have been on OfferUp thinking that it will be resold. Getting something stolen from you is such a terrible feeling, you feel dirty, and used, and just wrong. And at the end of the day, you just have to accept it. For children, I fear it takes a small part of you, and casts a shadow on their view of our society. My hopes for this GoFundMe is to cast a light.
