Gary Durocher is a 60-year-old disabled man who has always been a pillar of strength and kindness in his community. Known for stepping up whenever someone was in need, Gary has spent much of his life helping others—never asking for anything in return. Over the past few years, however, Gary’s life has taken a heartbreaking turn. In February 2024, he lost his beloved wife after her long and courageous battle with breast cancer. This devastating loss has been incredibly difficult for him, both emotionally and physically. Not long after, Gary’s own health began to decline. Since then, he has undergone several surgeries and is currently on disability. At this time, Gary is in a rehabilitation facility, working hard every day to regain as much independence as possible. As he prepares for discharge, there is one major obstacle standing in his way—he cannot safely return home without proper accessibility. Gary urgently needs a porch and wheelchair ramp so he can enter and exit his home and attend his life-sustaining dialysis treatments. Family and friends came together to try to make this happen and hired a company to build the porch and ramp. They paid money upfront in good faith, but tragically, the company took the money and never completed the work—leaving Gary without a safe way to access his home. Now, with his discharge date approaching quickly, time is critical. Gary needs our help. We are raising funds to cover the cost of building a safe, accessible porch and wheelchair ramp so Gary can return home with dignity and continue receiving the medical care he depends on.
