My brother Grant has always been a hero to me. He was a hero as we grew up playing baseball together in the backyard, to his high school sweetheart wife of nearly 20 years, Tiffany, when he packed up and moved to Vegas after high school to marry her, and now to his two precious daughters as he raises them lovingly and with fierce protection all while he battles a debilitating venous disorder. Grant inherited a genetic problem in our family called venous insufficiency/venous ulcers/DVT. He has little circulation in both legs which has resulted in massive gaping wounds emerging from the inside out. These are not open cuts like you and I get, these giant open sores cause horrific pain and ooze daily and require constant care and attention. Grant has had multiple procedures over the years to aide in healing such as apligraf surgeries and two whole years of weekly debreeding sessions which are excruciatingly painful as the doctor essentially scrapes the dead skin cells off in order to promote new skin cell growth. Grant has been a hard working provider for his family in a career at Albertsons, but it requires him to be on his feet all day. Because of this, his legs will never get a chance to heal while he works 6 days a week. When Covid first hit, Grant being an essential worker was called to work 12 hour shifts for weeks which set him back years in the healing process. Nevada disability only offers short term, and the percentage is not even close to covering his family’s basic needs, such as their mortgage. We need Grant to be able to take off at least 6 months of work to have the best chance at completely healing his legs, or we fear he may one day lose them altogether. Grant has suffered daily excruciating pain for years that some days render him immobile. Above all else, we seek our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His unending love, guidance, and provision for Grant. Thank you for reading, love you all. -Kelly
