Help Grant James Anderson's Last Wishes

The Anderson family and so many more people suffered a tremendous loss, Charles James Anderson passed away 23 days after receiving a liver transplant at UAB Hospital. He was Loved by so many. Fortunately, we asked James what his wishes were in November when he stayed with us....just in case things didn't go well in the coming months.... He was thrilled to share all his wishes and so excited to talk about it. He seemed more excited than someone even planning an amazing wedding!! It was cute and we know you can probably imagine this if you knew James. We told him that we would do our very best to honor his wishes within our power. As you know cremation or body donation are extremely inexpensive. James wanted to go big based on his personality and based on what he believed was the Christian way like Jesus did it. He loved Jesus so much. His specifics were that he wanted an Alabama funeral, he wanted to be buried near Singing River Hospital where he was born at MachPelah cemetery, he wanted to use O'Byant-O'Keefe funeral home, he wanted his Pastor to do his service and he wanted an alter call and wanted it to be all about Jesus. We are trying to make this all happen to the best of our ability. Between the burial plot, headstone, and all of the funeral expenses it is looking like it is going to be about $15,000 to $20,000. We believe he had nothing at this time but we are looking for any clues we can find. Unfortunately, we only got as far as his wishes that day. He was given lots of information and forms to fill out regarding all aspects of end of life planning, but none of those have been found. Navigating all of this is extremely difficult. The family would be grateful for any help in granting his final wishes that he expressed so clearly.

Since time is a factor and James would have wanted an open casket, we are trying to accomodate that. The service is Thursday January 2nd. Since time is of the essence and so many loved him up in Tuscaloosa, plans are being made to do a big ALABAMA ROLL TIDE meets JESUS AND FORGIVENESS CELEBRATION OF LIFE for him at GRANTS CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH in FOSTERS, AL in the coming weeks or near months, details will be shared when they are made. So many at work and church loved him so much and James would have loved this so much. He must be up there looking down and getting so excited about all this love for him.
