On Aug. 3rd, Grant tripped and fell outside in 120 degree weather, rendering him unconscious. They estimated that he was on the ground for at least an hour before someone found him. This resulted in 2nd and 3rd degrees burns in multiple areas of his body. He was taken to BURN ICU in Las Vegas, where he’s been since. When arrived, they discovered that he had multiple organ-shock as well as heat stroke. He is in constant pain, can barely move, and has undergone two debridements. Also, he will soon need to undergo surgery for amputation, the extent is not yet known.
His wife, Vicki, has been traveling back and forth, 1 1/2 hours one way. She’s trying to be there for her husband but also continues to work, due to financial stresses. And soon, they will be hit with medical bills. They need our support. Anything and everything helps.
!Update!
During Surgery the surgeon found that the tissue in Grant's right leg is so extremely damaged that it would likely not ever fully heal. The plan now is to have an above-knee amputation. The Dr's feel he will overall heal faster and have better pain control this way. We can all imagine that after any amputation, the road to recovery is long and hard...physically, mentally and emotionally. There will now be added costs to house renovations, home medical supplies, prosthetics, etc.
Thank you to all who have helped so far, let's keep this going!!
