My grandfather has always been the rock of our family. After we lost my grandmother when she was only 54, he took it the hardest, but he never let his grief stop him from being there for us. He helped my mom raise her four kids, myself included, and has always supported and cared for us through every challenge. Now, as he faces stage four metastatic cancer that is progressing quickly, we want to be there for him just as he has always been there for us.
Recently, my grandfather has become too weak to walk on his own. My mom is getting him into a great oncology center in Phoenix, Arizona, but her house is two stories and the only bathrooms with showers are upstairs. It’s impossible for him to safely get up the stairs, and my mom can’t support him on her own. We are trying to get him a portable shower and chair that we can place downstairs so he can still bathe with dignity and comfort. The funds we raise will also help us purchase medical supplies and cover the costs of getting him to all of his appointments.
Any help that we can get to help him be comfortable and taken care of during this time in his life, a man that always gave help but never accepted it, is greatly appreciated. I want to thank everyone for their help and support. Your kindness will make a real difference for our family during this difficult time.
