Help Grandpa Don Save His Home

For those of you know my stepfather is known as Grandpa Don, you know that he is a loving individual who is always willing to help others. His love for people and animals is something that defines his character. Over the years he has taken in many rescue dogs and helped them. He and his late wife also worked as volunteers for the Visalia Rescue Mission for many years and also received a community award for their service to the organization.   They also opened their home to struggling families and helped them obtain education and job training.  These families were then able to move out on their own and lead productive lives.

Now, Grandpa Don needs the community’s help as he is currently in a financial bind that may cause him to lose his home. With his late wife Marylin Root passing in 2017, he has been struggling financially to make ends meet. The home that he is living in has a wooden shake roof that is dry and missing shingles. The roof is also leaking and is considered to be a fire hazard which needs to be fixed as soon as possible. The home insurance is giving him a deadline of September to replace the roof. If the roof is not replaced by then, he will lose his insurance and consequently lose his home.

We are asking the community who he loves so much to help him save his home. Anything helps and we thank you in advance for any and all support toward this cause! God bless you all, thank you!  I will be taking any money raised and directly paying the businesses involved for the work they will be doing on Grandpa Don's (my stepfather) roof.  If there is any extra money donated there are some other repairs needed in his home to make it safer for him to live there, such as replacing the carpet since it is coming apart at the seams and he has fallen, or repairs to his air conditioning.
