With 2020 in the rearview mirror, we all hope (and expect) this year to be better than the last. Yes, this year has gotten off to a rocky start, but we hope that better days lay ahead. To that end, we hope that you will help this grandmother realize her dream for her granddaughter to be the first in her family to graduate from college.
Last year, her granddaughter, Autumn Harris, earned acceptance into Trinity University. But then, 2020 hit. Due to cognitive heart failure and a spinal injury, her grandmother, Michelle Hamilton, is wheel-chair bound and raises six children off of Social Security. For years, Michelle Hamilton has stretched her limited income to care for her family. Recently, Michelle Hamilton was featured on a local news channel. There she was applauded for her work as a community leader, advocating for affordable housing and education reform. Shortly thereafter, a GoFundMe page circulated to support her immediate financial needs for her family. The outpouring of support has buoyed her spirit and family during this tough time.
As Michelle Hamilton works tirelessly to raise her children with dignity, her granddaughter has tried to assist her grandmother by pausing her education to go to work. This year, Michelle Hamilton wants her granddaughter to continue to make family history by re-enrolling back into college. To that end, her granddaughter would need $7500 to cover her educational fees. Like her grandmother, Autumn Harris wants to care for those around her and has aspirations to become a nurse.
With these funds, Autumn Harris can restart her learning and enroll in spring semester classes in February 2021.
