Support Our Grandma’s Fight to Recover from a Stroke
Being an immigrant is never easy. Many of us leave behind loved ones, hoping to build a better future and, one day, bring our families back together.
8 years ago, in 2017, my family moved to the United States. Over that time, we’ve been blessed with two amazing daughters. Our oldest is a national-level athlete who competes as a figure skater in both singles and pairs, proudly representing the U.S. National Development Team for the second year in a row.
Our family has another very special member still living across the ocean—our grandmother. She’s been living alone, while we’ve worked toward the dream of reuniting her with our family here in the U.S.
On the morning of January 9, 2025, our grandma suffered a severe ischemic stroke. Incredibly, she managed to call me (her daughte) — half a world away — and unlock her door, even though she couldn’t speak and walk.
She’s now in the ICU after undergoing a life-saving procedure (endovascular thrombectomy of the left middle cerebral artery). Her condition is critical, and the road ahead will be long. Doctors anticipate weeks in the hospital, followed by months of intense rehabilitation.
I am flying overseas to be with her, and I plan to stay as long as she needs me. We’re holding on to hope that she will recover and that one day, we’ll be able to reunite our family here in the U.S.
The medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and travel expenses are overwhelming. That’s why we’re asking for your support. Any donation — big or small — will help us cover her care and allow us to focus on giving her the best chance at recovery.
Our grandma is the heart of our family, and we are determined to help her heal. Your generosity means the world to us, and we are incredibly grateful for your kindness, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
Please donate and share this page to help us bring hope and healing to our family.
