Help Grandma Jean recover from Hurricane Ian

Hi, I'm Chantel, Jean McLoughlin's daughter in law.

This week has been hard. We are BEYOND grateful Jean is physically ok, but the magnitude of the loss, the grief, and the work to get back on her feet will be a long time coming...

Jean's car was completely submerged, and her home under 4 ft+ of water. Everything except a few pictures on the wall is a total loss. Insurance situation is iffy as it was a surge, therefore condo association flood insurance is unknown at this time, car insurance does not cover flooding, and FEMA will take months, if not longer, to provide any sustainable relief.

It's hard to process the magnitude of an empowered, 75yr old, active, single, retired teacher AND cancer survivor who had created her perfect oasis of plants, friends, and community - losing it all overnight.

Thank goodness Kierstin (her daughter) skillfully navigated the road closures the day after the storm, bravely flagged down two men with a HUGE truck, and was able to wisk her to safety up in Wildwood, Florida! The national guard is now down there, and it's a mess with road closures everywhere.

We know this is an enormous ask. It will take every penny of this and more to get her back on her feet. Every single dollar will go directly towards getting her: a new car, new furniture (we are working as a family to relocate her thoughtfully), a new bed and bedding, new clothes, basic living necessities such as kitchen appliances, dinnerware, towels, a cozy reading chair and a fully stocked fridge.
